Its inner structure helps the pad compress in a smooth and even way. This helps reduce twisting, uneven collapse, and side-to-side squirm at your shoulder.

That helps the rifle track more cleanly through recoil. It can also help you stay in the scope, hold your shooting position, and get back on target faster.
